Shumon Basar is a London based writer, editor and curator. He directs the Cultural Programme at the Architectural Association, London. With Stephan Trueby, Shumon produced ‘The World of Madelon Vriesendorp’, a touring exhibition and book based on the Dutch artist’s near secret oeuvre. He co-founded the experimental journal sexymachinery in 1999, the curatorial/design group Newbetter, and is contributing editor at Tank magazine. Books Shumon has (co)edited include ‘Did Someone Say Participate?’ (MIT Press, 2006), which featured in the Independent’s ‘Ten Best Architecture Books’ in 2008; ‘With/Without’ (Bidoun, 2007); and ‘Cities from Zero’ (AA, 2007). He is co-editing the forthcoming Hans Ulrich Obrist Interviews Volume 2 (Charta/FYA, 2009), and writing a non non-fiction novel called World World World!
