Digital platforms and city safety

Thursday, July 23, 2009 12:11

In a seven minute talk at the Reboot Britain conference on July 6 2009 in London, Alexander Rose a battlefront campaigner and founder of the STOP Campaign – a youth movement committed to resolving the problem of youth violence in the UK – explains how instrumental digital platforms are in engaging young people in local communities to take action against gun and knife violence. According to Alexander Rose digital platforms are fundamental, not only for their networking and connecting capacities, but for their ability to empower young people into making ‘real’ change by giving them a space to air their views confidently “like in their bedrooms” on issues that interest and concern them.
