International Academy of Architecture (IAA), Union of Architects in Bulgaria (UAB), University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG), the city of Sofia and the publishing house Atlas Style.

The international four-day event in Sofia is dedicated to “Architecture of XXI-st Century”; a title of quite wide scope but with an impressive line-up of speakers invited to tackle during the Author’s Conferences which are scheduled to take place for four days consecutively.

Scheduled for Monday 18 May the international open forum “ARCHITECTURE OF XXI-ST CENTURY” invited speakers are:

AHMET VEFIK ALP (TURKEY), JUSTUS DAHINDEN (SWITZERLAND), RICHARD ENGLAND (MALTA), KENNETH FRAMPTON (USA), JORGE GLUSBERG (ARGENTINA), JAN HOOGSTAD (THE NETHERLANDS), ALEXANDER KUDRJAVTZEV (RUSSIA), LOISE NOELLE MERELES (MEXICO), JUHANI PALLASMAA (FINLAND), MARIO PISANI (ITALY), LILO POPOV(BULGARIA), DENNIS SHARP (UK), BRIAN SPENCER (USA).

Included in the event’s program are 4 competitions:

1) Exhibition – competition of Architectural Projects and Built Works. Sections: Architectural Structures of the Future; Innovations and Traditional Architecture; Architectural identity; Architecture and Ecology and Sustainable Cities.

2) Exhibition – competition of Books and Magazines on Architecture. The exhibition will display books and magazines on architecture published after 2006. An international jury will vote the award-winning publications.

3) Exhibition – competition of Student’s diploma Projects from leading Architectural Schools, the schools are invited to present up to five diploma works.

4) Exhibition-International – competition “Sofia City ‘21”. Projects by Lord Norman Foster, Zaha Hadid, Massimiliano Fuksas, Dominique Prerrault, G3 (G.Stollov), ADAIS (G. Bakalov)

Also on the agenda an exhibition on the “Leading Masters of the World Contemporary Architecture – IAA members” which displays the recent projects of over 80 of the biggest names in architecture and an Expo of leading firms with production in the field of architecture and building.
