The pilot project began yesterday and will continue its route to other 15 cities in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, through the month of February until Mid-March, monitering the response, if it is successful the buses will cover all of India.

The bus will moniter 600 Cyber-cafe/internet browsing centers and is fully equipped with wireless internet, high-end computers and computer professionals who provide usability advice and training services on site.

The aim of the project, of course, is to promote Google services such as gmail, gtalk, google earth, google search, google desktop etc. and give people the opportunity to learn how to use the services, gain knowledge and start using these services, in the long term getting Google to reach everyone.
It could be a very useful way of introducing the Internet to those you are unfamiliar with it and increase the understanding of its usage to a broader audience.
